Concept of Post-Audio
Post-Audio includes dialogue, music and sound effect (DME). Audio is very important in a movie, especially in action or horror movies. A piece of good music is able to touch audience's hearts.

Dialogue
Generally, indie film uses location recording audio (DV audio). If you record the voice in production stage is over or under 1 khz test tone, you need to adjust the voice volume. Keep it consistent. If you have budget and time, you can try to dub, so that it can make your voice without environment sound in same track, the volume of dialogue can be controlled more easily.

Music
After you finalize dialogue, you can try to add background music to your movie. If you have no sense of music, you can choose to buy library music in the internet and edit the piece of music with video editing application. If you have basic knowledge of music, you can try to use Apple Grangeband (Mac) or Jukebox (PC). You can create your customized background music.

Sound Effect
Why do we need to add sound effects? Sound effects are artificially created or enhanced sounds. We need to add sound effects since they can be used to emphasize artistic or other content of films. For example, there is a shot describing a cop shooting at a bad guy, but the gun sound is impossible to record in reality. You can buy some professional sound effects or download free sound effects from the internet.

How to record your post-audio
A shotgun microphone is required for it. In indoor, you can connect that to the computer and record with video editing application. In outdoor, you can connect it to the DV camera, reminder, record audio should be in MONO. Don't record in Stereo because mono audio is easier to be controlled in post-production. Besides this, try to minimize the environmental noises such as air-condition when recording is in progress.
