Concept of editing
Video editing is the process of editing segments of motion video footage, special effects and sound recordings. Using digital video, you can communicate non-fictional and fictional events. The purposes of editing are to manipulate these events for better or for worse communication, compress timing in movie, and also make the movie more attractive.

• Draft cut: aim to delete unnecessary or waste clip
• First cut
• Final cut

Hardware Equipment
The computer is necessary equipment for video editing. Your computer is required to install 60G HD or above, faster CPU, enough RAM, good performance video card and a 1394 capture card. If possible, you should connect your DV recorder and external a TV monitor for Preview.

Software, Setup and Capture
Video editing Software is an also important tool for Video Editing. Professional Video editing requires Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere and Avid Media Composer. If you have no budget to buy video software, you can make use of Window Movie maker (PC) or HyperEngine-AV (Mac) instead.
Before you start to edit your video, you must clarify your project setup information:

Your setup should be according to your DV type resource. If the format of your DV recorder is PAL 4:3, you should set up the format PAL 4:3 for your project. If you setup does not match your Video resources, your video will appear Drop frame or change aspect ratio.

Editing Methods

Methods of edit sequencing
Most editing software uses the "cut and paste" metaphor common in word, allowing you to select sequences of frame and move and paste them into the sequence at will. The join between clips are important and there are several methods for achieving them:

Cut
One video clip joined abruptly to another, there are special rules for minimizing the disruption to the viewer that this cause

Dissolve
One video clip fades out whilst the next fades in, often used to denote the passing of time.

Wipes or Effect
Special image processing effect that manipulate the video, allow one clip to slide over another, appear picture-in picture or move off screen in interesting way.

Color correction
Color correction also very important step in after editing, you can correct problems such as smeared colors, color casts from mixed lighting, or loss of detail in highlights and shadows. Color correction also can made different mood in your movie. For example, Matrix's series movie.
