About The Wine
Flagship of Rickety Bridge Winery founded since 1797. Grapes grown on the sunniest north and westerly facing slopes in Franschhoek Valley. Grapes were 100% hand-picked and fermented in an open fermentation tank with manual punch downs 5 times a day. Soaked with skin for 26 days before malolactic fermentation took place. Barrel matured for 24 months before bottling, with only one-third in new French oak and two-third in older oak to preserve fruitiness of the wine. Tasting Note
Vibrant, juicy black and red fruit infused with pencil shavings and hints of new oak on the nose. Balanced natural acidity and rich structure with strong lingering aftertaste. Supple, well integrated tannins and clean robust red fruit with classic old world finesse and austerity on the palate. Excellent accompaniment to venison, lamb, beef and strong cheeses.
